AWARD NOMINATIONS

Nominations for the 2019 Food & Beverage Industry Awards are now open!

Nominations are now open in nine categories, with all finalists becoming automatic entrants into the Best of the Best category, proudly sponsored by Platinum Sponsor Flavour Makers.

Some exciting changes have been made to the categories for 2019. All categories are listed below.

All products being entered must be manufactured in Australia or New Zealand and have been introduced to market in the past 24 months.

Nominations for the 2019 Food & Beverage Industry Awards will close at 5pm, on Friday 31 May 2019.


BEST OF THE BEST
Proudly sponsored by Platinum Sponsor Flavour Makers, the Best of the Best Award recognises excellence in food and beverage manufacturing, celebrating the best product of the year. All finalists are automatic entrants for the Best of the Best Award..

Nomination Criteria:
1. Must be a product that is a finalist for an award in any category of the Food & beverage Awards.

 

BEVERAGE OF THE YEAR
Open to all beverage manufacturers, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, this Award recognises the best new beverage and looks at unique processing techniques, innovation in packaging and why the product was introduced to the market.

Nomination Criteria:
1. Beverage must be manufactured in Australia or New Zealand.
2. Submission must include details on how the beverage has been processed, including information on any unique techniques or custom equipment used.
3. Submission must include information on the packaging of the beverage and whether this has any effects (positive or negative) on the overall manufacturing and bottling process.

INGREDIENT INNOVATION
This category celebrates those companies who have developed an ingredient innovation to fulfil a market need, as well as recognising any obstacles that have been overcome to introduce this innovation to the market.

Nomination Criteria:
1. Product must be or use an innovative ingredient not widely seen in other products.
2. Submission must outline the differences this ingredient brings to the product.
3. Submission must include information on what processing techniques were required to use this ingredient.

FOOD SAFETY EQUIPMENT & MATERIALS 
Of crucial importance to all food and beverage manufacturers, this category celebrates new products and advancements in technology designed to improve and maintain food safety standards in manufacturing facilities around Australia.

Nomination Criteria:
1. Equipment and/or materials must be manufactured in Australia or New Zealand.
2. Product must have been developed in the past 12 months from 1 January 2018.
3. Product must have a demonstrable positive effect on safety.

PACKAGING INNOVATION
This category recognises an outstanding packaging solution that helps to ensure longevity, improves transit, benefits the environment and/or keeps costs low for manufacturers.

Nomination Criteria:
1. Packaging has been designed and manufactured in Australia or New Zealand.
2. Packaging must have been introduced to consumers within the past 12 months, from 1 January 2018.
3. Packaging must have a tangible benefit to the food or beverage, demonstrated within the submission.

INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY OF THE YEAR
This Award looks at products and technologies designed to help make food and beverage manufacturing more efficient and cost effective, as well as those that make improvements to the whole supply chain.

Nomination Criteria:
1. Technology has been developed in Australia or New Zealand.
2. Technology has been developed within the last 12 months, from 1 January 2018.
3. Technology has a demonstrable improvement to manufacturing efficiency

HEALTH FOODS
This Award celebrates new health foods. The product could be manufactured in a new way to preserve nutritional content or be processed to provide consumers with an easier way to meet their nutritional or dietary needs.

Nomination Criteria:
1. Health Food must be manufactured in Australia or New Zealand.
2. Submission must include details on how the health food has been processed, including information on any unique techniques or custom equipment used.
3. Submission must include information on the packaging of the health food and whether this has any effects (positive or negative) on the overall manufacturing process and shelf life of the product.

BEST IN DESIGN
This category celebrates a manufacturer that has implemented an integrated design and build that includes automation and has an environmental benefit, and has resulted in a direct reduction of running costs for the manufacturer.

Nomination Criteria:
1. Facility must be located within Australia or New Zealand and have been completed within the past 24 months, from 1 January 2017.
2. Build must incorporate automation within the design.
3. Build must demonstrate other tangible benefits, including to the environment and cost reduction to the business.

MEAT, POULTRY & SMALLGOODS
This category recognises an outstanding meat product and looks at unique processing techniques, innovation in packaging and why the product was introduced to the market.

Nomination Criteria:
1. Product must be manufactured in Australia or New Zealand.
2. Product must have been introduced in the past 12 months, from 1 January 2018.
3. Submission must include details on how the product was processed, including information on any unique techniques or custom equipment used.

PADDOCK TO PLATE
Paddock to Plate will celebrate companies who source their product direct from the producer and maintain freshness while meeting a consumer demand, such as longer shelf life and/or ease of preparation and cooking.

Nomination Criteria:
1. Product is manufactured in Australia or New Zealand, and introduced to market within the past 12 months, from 1 January 2018.
2. Product has undergone minimal transportation and processing, and core ingredient will have been sourced direct from a producer.
3. Submission will be able to show traceability from the original producer and how this is incorporated into the manufacturing process and marketing of the product.
